Tethered Airship Photography
Airship Solutions also offers a Tethered Airship as a very useful vehicle to take your aerial photographs.
As our Airships are tethered via a rope to the ground they are useful vehicles to capture aerial photographs in built up areas such as the city/CBD or within 3 miles of an airport as they are exempt from many of the CASA UAV restrictions and or easy to obtain further CASA exemptions such as heights above 400 AGL where required. In many cases it is the only safe option to capture your required images. Airship Solutions has provided this service from our inception, for over 15 years, as a unique tool for indicative views of high rise buildings for property development purposes or those specific 3D renders. In addition, due to the size of the airships, we are able to lift all SLR/medium format cameras such a Canon R5 accommodating many different lens options including tilt shift lenses for those architectural photographers. As a result, we specialise in providing other photographers with our service so that their suite of cameras or lenses can also be fitted to our gimbals.

How it works
Specific outdoor conditions are required for a shoot of this type…. light wind days with less than 10km. We do many of our sunrise shoots in this manner as it is the optimal time of day, both for beauty as well as wind.
In most cases, the tethered airship (approximately 6m) is trailered to site, walked into position and then slowly floated into the required position. The airships are controlled via elevators and rudders to tweak the positioning once the desired height is achieved.
At height, the photographs are taken via a remote control in a similar manner as a drone. When interstate or overseas requirements are requested, the balloon can also be deflated and suit-cased for ease of transport.
